Located in Rotterdam, BeyMen Café is an example of restaurant and café design in Rotterdam, reinterpreting Turkish culinary culture as a contemporary spatial experience that extends across the day. Our aim was a project bringing café and restaurant use together under one roof, and in designing this Rotterdam restaurant and café we placed particular emphasis on making the space multi-functional. In projects abroad, too, we apply our restaurant interior design approach in the same analytical sequence.
Restaurant and Café Design: Rotterdam BeyMen – Materials and Character
We used warm materials, while strong lighting, graphic details and original furniture choices support the brand's warm character, creating an inviting atmosphere. This lets the same space appeal both to individuals dropping in for a coffee and to groups coming for dinner. As the umbrella organisation of Turkish businesses in the Netherlands also shows, this community is strong and well established. A project like BeyMen Rotterdam is therefore not only a space design; it also represents a brand that is part of this strong business community. We kept this in mind in the materials, floor finishes and furniture, maintaining a consistent language throughout.
Coffee, Dining and Socialising
We brought coffee, dining and socialising together, designing BeyMen Rotterdam as a space that responds to different guests and has a lively, multi-layered social character, taking on a different role at every hour. We kept the same consistency from morning coffee to dinner, supported by varied seating and lighting scenarios planned for the transitions through the day. At BeyMen Rotterdam, CO Mimarlık created an original space that interprets Turkish culinary culture in a contemporary architectural language. The project strikes a balance that appeals both to the local Turkish community and to a wide Dutch audience, and this balance is its most distinctive quality. Over time, BeyMen Rotterdam has become one of the natural meeting points of the area's Turkish community.
