Architecture Projects
Since 1993, CO Mimarlık has completed more than 400 projects in Türkiye and Europe. The architecture projects on this page cover different scales, from villas to commercial buildings and from offices to educational buildings, which is why we manage analysis, concept, design and construction holistically in every project.
We assess the character of the site, structural requirements and investment goals together, and carry out all our projects within the framework of professional responsibility and ethical principles defined by the Chamber of Architects of Türkiye. We describe the scope of our services and our process on our Architecture Service page.
Villa and Residential Architecture Projects
In villa projects, we make the topography of the site and the family's way of life the starting point of the design. At Bertan D. House, in Yalıkavak, Bodrum, we designed a home that adapts to the sloping site and is organised around the kitchen and pool. Similarly, at Aylin Y.B. House, in Burhaniye, we delivered everything on a turnkey basis, from the architectural project to the final placement of the interiors. At Farmhouse, in Siverek, we developed a contemporary interpretation inspired by the historic Bell Palace in Cameroon, while at Tankut Y. House, in Kemalpaşa, Bursa, we brought the character of an English country house together with life on a horse farm. Finally, at Deniz Apt., in Kalamış, Istanbul, in 2006 we took on both the architecture and the interior design of the building.
Commercial and Mixed-Use Architecture Projects
In commercial buildings, architectural decisions directly affect a business's visibility and efficiency. For Ali Y. Building, in Koşuyolu, Kadıköy, we designed the architectural project from the outset so it could become a restaurant, completed the shell and handed it over. A restaurant later leased the building and designed its own interior, bringing to life the architecture we had conceived as a restaurant. In Güzelbahçe, İzmir, we are reworking Türkaslan Building as a small-scale gastronomy mall that will host several restaurant brands.
Office and Educational Buildings
In workplaces and educational buildings, energy efficiency, daylight and user comfort come first. At Çalışma Ofisi, in Ankara, in 2012 we turned the roof into an architectural element that generates energy with solar panels. Similarly, at Dershane Building, completed in 2003, we created a strong identity with a glass façade and illuminated sunshades, and also took on construction supervision.
A Holistic Approach to Architectural Design
In many projects, we carry out architectural design together with interior architecture and construction, so architectural projects don't stay on paper but are carried onto site with the same determination. You can explore our work in this field on our Interior Architecture Projects page, and take a look at our restaurant and café projects and our international projects as well.
Frequently Asked Questions About Architecture Projects
What is the difference between an architectural project and an interior architecture project?
An architectural project defines a building's massing, façade, structural system and relationship with the site; an interior architecture project designs the layout, materials, lighting and furniture of the space. In many projects we handle both with the same team, so the outside and inside of the building speak the same language. For our latest project, Tankut Y. House in Kemalpaşa, Bursa, we prepared the architectural and interior architecture projects together.
How long does the drawing phase of an architectural project take?
The drawing phase of an architectural project takes 90–120 days on average, depending on the scale of the building and the scope of the project.
How do you start a villa project?
We first study the site and the family's daily habits. At Bertan D. House in Yalıkavak, we adapted to the sloping site and made the kitchen, rather than a traditional living room, the main living space. At Farmhouse in Siverek, we interpreted a historical reference brought by the client in a contemporary language.
Can you convert an existing building to a new use?
Yes. At Türkaslan Building in Güzelbahçe, İzmir, we are converting an empty building into a small gastronomy mall hosting different restaurant brands, with the existing reinforced concrete structure as the backbone of the conversion. We also designed Ali Y. Building in Kadıköy to function as a restaurant.
How do you build energy efficiency into the design?
We treat energy solutions as part of the architecture, not as technical equipment. At Çalışma Ofisi in Ankara, we shaped the roof around solar panels so the building can generate its own energy. At Dershane Building in Kadıköy, slender steel sunshades gave the façade both shade and rhythm.
Are you involved in construction too?
Yes, depending on the agreement. At Dershane Building in Kadıköy, we took on construction supervision after drawing the project. At Aylin Y.B. House in Burhaniye, we ran the entire process on a turnkey basis, from foundations to decoration.
