Camgöz, completed in Gaziosmanpaşa in 2015, is a modern example of fish restaurant design in the district. We stepped away from the conventional fish restaurant, interpreting the idea of a "fishmonger for the new generation" in a contemporary spatial language that guided all our design decisions. Camgöz became a new meeting place beyond the classic fish restaurant identity.
Fish Restaurant Design in Gaziosmanpaşa: Materials and Light
We avoided blue and white and kept away from classic nautical references, choosing warm timber surfaces and purple cushions instead, accompanied by black metal frames and characterful pendant lamps. A tree trunk at the centre of the room adds a natural touch and a brick wall completes the warm texture, giving the restaurant a dynamic identity free of nautical clichés.
Open Kitchen, Display and Seating
We placed the open kitchen and the product display at the heart of the design, with blackboard menus giving the space a warm, everyday voice. This layout lets guests see the kitchen up close, while the products on the shelves strengthen the sense of transparency. The seating adapts to different needs, from tables for two to large groups, and purple banquettes add an energetic colour to the room.
Terrace and Glazed Façade
Glazed façades open the space to the greenery outside, while an awning system balances the light through the seasons. On the terrace, a red-battened ceiling gives the room a lively character, so guests experience the space differently throughout the day, and the façade and ceiling make the restaurant memorable from outside.
