ÇALIŞMA OFİSİ – ANKARA

Çalışma Ofisi is an office architecture project we designed in Ankara in 2012, addressing office architecture together with energy efficiency and working comfort.

Solar energy is at the heart of the project. We used the large surface of the roof for solar panels, so the building can generate its own energy, contributing to its energy needs and reducing its environmental impact. We did not see the panels as mere technical equipment but as part of the architectural design.

We created a strong link between the roof form and solar energy, shaping the building's mass around the needs of the workspaces and treating daylight, energy use and working comfort within the same design approach.

Sustainability for us means not separating energy generation from architecture. That is why we conceived the solar panels as part of the roof design, considering technical needs and architectural character together, so Çalışma Ofisi offered a different approach to office architecture.

We considered the building's mass together with the workspaces and environmental conditions, treating energy efficiency not as a technical detail but as one of the design's fundamental decisions. Workspaces and renewable energy became parts of the same architectural whole, decisions that directly shaped the building's performance.

We brought contemporary workspaces together with renewable energy, keeping solar power at the centre of the design and assessing the building's energy-generating potential together with the architectural decisions.

At Çalışma Ofisi we combined office architecture with energy generation and working comfort, treating renewable energy as part of the architectural design; this approach formed the project's key design decisions.

Office Architecture and Sustainability

CO Mimarlık treats the different needs of office architecture as a whole. We don't think of energy generation separately from the building's function, and at Çalışma Ofisi we made this approach tangible.

We designed the building with a steel structure, creating a large, uninterrupted roof surface that we used not just as a covering but as an active layer generating solar energy.

We also made sure daylight reaches the workspaces, considering energy efficiency and user comfort together, an approach that makes sustainability a natural part of office architecture.

For us, Çalışma Ofisi was an original project that demonstrated this approach, bringing energy generation, daylight and working comfort into the same architectural whole and addressing the building's performance and architectural character together.
