CO Mimarlık designed the second branch of the PepperMill brand in Emek, Ankara, in 2006. This restaurant design carries the brand's familiar identity into a new space: the design language of the first branch continues here, reinterpreted for the features of the new venue, resulting in a restaurant that is familiar yet original. PepperMill / II is a tangible example of this approach.
Brand Continuity in Restaurant Design
PepperMill has a warm, familiar identity, so the team preserved the design language of the first branch without repeating the same solutions one to one, taking into account each venue's own dimensions and light. The new branch was not a copy of the first; instead, the brand told the same story in a different space, strengthening its continuity.
Warm Timber, Glass and Metal Details
Warm timber surfaces give the space an intimate feel, glazed surfaces open it up visually, and metal details add a crisp character. The three materials form a balanced whole, with every surface serving the restaurant's overall atmosphere, so the restaurant looks both warm and strong while continuing PepperMill's familiar identity.
Lighting That Sets the Atmosphere
Lighting is one of the main elements defining the restaurant's atmosphere, and at PepperMill / II characteristic lights complete it. Light brings out the warmth of the timber and makes the metal details glow, creating different reflections on timber and metal surfaces and bringing different materials together in a single visual language that gives the space its own feel.
The Balance Between Continuity and Originality
PepperMill / II pursues two goals at once: the brand identity continues, while the space keeps its own character. This balance is the second branch's most distinctive feature, building its own identity without breaking the brand's line and showing that the same identity can stand strong in a different space.
