Taksim Hotel Interior Design: Project Overview
This Taksim hotel interior designproject is located right at the start of Taksim–İstiklal Avenue, one of Istanbul's busiest and most visited spots. Without altering the existing structure of Taksim Square Hotel, CO Mimarlık reinterpreted its interiors, and in 2012 the project put the hotel's public areas through a comprehensive renovation, preserving the hotel's character while meeting contemporary expectations of comfort. The result is an interior that is strong both functionally and visually.
Inspired by Ottoman Palace Architecture
The starting point of the design was the hotel's relationship with Istanbul's historical identity. The team drew on references from Ottoman palace architecture, reinforced by a rich use of materials, giving the hotel an identity that brings past and present together under one roof. This made the hotel not only a place to stay but also a cultural point of reference, with every space carrying this historical narrative.
A Grand Atmosphere with Symmetry, Mirrors and Chandeliers
The design team used symmetry as the main organising principle, with mirrors and chandeliers emphasising this symmetrical order further. Rich textures and materials give the public areas a characteristic feel, so guests enjoy a grand, coherent experience from the entrance onwards. Every detail came together to create a consistent visual language throughout, one of the project's most distinctive features.

The Historic Significance of the Taksim–İstiklal Area
The Taksim–İstiklal axis, where Taksim Square Hotel is located, has been at the heart of Istanbul's cultural and social life since the 19th century. You can find detailed information about this historic area here too. The hotel thus stands out not only as a place to stay but as part of this historic route, a context that directly shaped its interior design. In the end, this Taksim hotel interior keeps Istanbul's historic heritage alive in a contemporary language.
