SAILOR — Italian Restaurant Design in Caddebostan
Sailor, which we designed in Caddebostan, is an Italian restaurant design project that brings Italian cuisine together with an original spatial language inspired by maritime culture. Our aim was to unite two worlds, the warmth of Mediterranean cuisine and the simplicity of nautical aesthetics, in a single identity, giving the space an atmosphere that is both intimate and full of character. The seaside character of Caddebostan naturally supports this theme.
Nautical Aesthetics and Material Selection
Ropes, timber textures, natural materials and warm lighting turn nautical references into atmosphere rather than imitating them directly, so the theme becomes a natural part of the venue's identity instead of a decorative cliché. The continuity between the large outdoor area and the interior strengthens the restaurant's social character, giving guests a fluid experience between inside and outside, which also increases capacity, especially in summer.
Spatial Layout in Italian Restaurant Design
In an Italian restaurant, the warmth of the space should match the intimacy of the cuisine, and this principle shaped our material and lighting decisions at Sailor. Natural textures and soft light carry the traditional warmth of Italian cuisine into the space. A similar material language is often found in leading restaurant and bar designs in Italy as well. Sailor supports an authentic culinary experience with an original spatial identity, and the table layout and service flow were planned so as not to disturb this intimate atmosphere, letting both small and large groups find a corner that suits them.
A Holistic Spatial Experience
At Sailor, CO Mimarlık brought Italian cuisine and the maritime spirit together in a single spatial experience, highlighting both food culture and the character of the space. Guests experience not just a meal but a complete atmosphere, with every corner staying true to the same design language. From early morning to late evening, Sailor can offer a different atmosphere throughout the day, a flexibility that integrates it naturally into daily life in Caddebostan.
