MARTI BALIK / ANKARA — Fish Restaurant Interior Design

Martı Balık in Ankara was designed in 2008 as an example of fish restaurant interior design that CO Mimarlık approached with an original architectural line inspired by maritime culture, one that still feels current today. Bringing out the character of the space was the project's core goal, so guests feel this identity the moment they enter, because in a fish restaurant the atmosphere matters as much as the food. Every design decision was made to support a holistic identity.

Concept and Our Approach to Fish Restaurant Interiors

Inside, we used light blue and white tones, accompanied by natural timber surfaces, ship models and nautical objects; these elements are not merely decorative but support the architectural layout. The right analysis means addressing the kitchen and the guest experience together, and at Martı Balık we shaped the space planning on this principle, designing every decision from materials to lighting so the nautical theme is felt organically rather than as a forced decor.

A Design Language That Stands the Test of Time

The project combines the thematic approach of its time with a strong spatial identity, keeping it current from 2008 to today, with a design language that remains simple, characterful and timeless. This permanence reflects an approach CO Mimarlık follows in its restaurant and café projects: focusing on the identity of the space rather than passing trends. A similar tendency can be seen in leading restaurant interiors around the world as well. Years on, the space has not lost its character, the clearest proof of a concept built on the right analysis; guests visiting today notice how well design decisions made more than a decade ago still hold.

As at Martı Balık, in every fish restaurant design we plan the space together with the kitchen flow. The service line, guest circulation and kitchen–dining relationship directly affect the success of the concept; this holistic view is part of the design discipline CO Mimarlık has applied in more than 400 projects.
