ROLLHOUSE BRANCHES

BİLKENT & ERYAMAN, ANKARA / 2006

Bowling salonu tasarımı – bilardo masaları ve sarkıt lambalar, Rollhouse Ankara | CO Mimarlık

The Rollhouse branches, which we designed in Ankara in 2006, are an example of bowling alley design that takes bowling beyond a sport. At the branches in Bilkent Ankuva and Eryaman Optimum, we brought social life, entertainment and food and drink together in one place, creating lively venues for different audiences, and applied the same approach at two different scales.

Bowling Alley Design: Perspective and Atmosphere

The long bowling lanes are the space's strongest element, so we put the perspective they create at the heart of the design, supported by lights arranged rhythmically across the ceiling. Graphic works on the walls give the hall a dynamic character, while dark colours and timber surfaces combine with dramatic lighting to create a strong atmosphere.

Billiards, Games and Match-Viewing Areas

Alongside the lanes, we created separate areas for different users: billiard tables and game areas invite guests to have fun, while match-viewing areas suit group get-togethers. The venue appeals to different ages and interests, so visitors enjoy themselves even while waiting for a lane.

Bar and Restaurant: The Heart of Social Life

The bar and restaurant areas turn the hall into a meeting point, with timber tables and banquettes arranged for conversation, a bar with high stools adding a dynamic feel and framed graphics giving the walls character. We designed the two branches at different scales under the same brand identity, and they became some of Ankara's notable entertainment venues of their time.

Our Approach to Bowling Alley Design

Every entertainment venue calls for a different solution depending on its audience and scale. That is why we first analyse the user profile and operational flow, then plan the concept, materials and lighting, and finally follow construction closely, keeping the budget in view throughout. This approach guided our bowling alley design too. The bar and restaurant projects on ArchDaily also show how entertainment and dining spaces are merging.

With more than thirty years of restaurant design experience, we give every space an original identity. You may also be interested in another of our entertainment venue projects, Dorock XL Beşiktaş as well. You can also browse our interior architecture projects in full.
