Kaybedenler Kulübü is a meyhane (a traditional Turkish tavern) that opened in Bolu in 2019. In this Bolu meyhane design project, we brought the rebellious, warm spirit of the 6:45 Kaybedenler Kulübü group together with the meyhane tradition, rebuilding the group's character from the bar and pub world, this time around the dining table.
Bolu Meyhane Design: From the Street to the Table
On the façade, a green awning and a red carpet welcome guests. Inside, woven pendant lamps, timber surfaces and planted walls create a warm setting, and banquette seating brings tables closer together, so conversation and sharing remain at the heart of the meyhane.
The red carpet and green awning make the meyhane recognisable from the street, giving a first sign of the warmth inside right at the door. These two strong colours also link to the bold use of colour in the group's other venues.
Light, Materials and Seating
In a meyhane, light should be low and warm, so we placed the woven pendant lamps directly above the tables. For materials, we chose textured, hard-wearing surfaces; timber, for example, keeps its character even under heavy use every night. The seating layout has to accommodate both large tables and tables for two in the same room, so we ran banquettes along the planted wall and planned the centre of the room for long communal tables.
The planted walls add another layer to the room: the green texture balances the warm tones of timber and wicker, and in the evening the pendant lights cast soft shadows on the leaves. In short, the atmosphere is defined not by a single material but by these layers together.
Our Approach to Meyhane Design in Bolu
We approach every meyhane together with the business's service flow, because the meyhane tradition is built on sharing the table. Meze service, the waiter's movement between tables and the distance between kitchen and dining room directly shape the guest experience. At Kaybedenler Kulübü we made these decisions together with the brand's graphic language, so the venue carries the group's identity while offering the warmth a meyhane needs.
For the group's bars, pubs and live music venues, take a look at our 6:45 Kaybedenler Kulübü project. Our other restaurant projects were designed with the same method too.
