FARMHOUSE

SİVEREK, ŞANLIURFA / 2023

Villa tasarımı – havuzlu çiftlik evi genel görünüm, Siverek Şanlıurfa | CO Mimarlık

This villa design project in Siverek draws on a historical reference brought by the client: the Bell Palace, built in Cameroon in 1905 for King Auguste Manga Ndumbe. We began the project from this architectural reference, but rather than imitating this historical heritage directly, we revisited it with a contemporary interpretation.

Historical Reference and Villa Design

The architectural character of the historical building is an important reference for the design. The visual and architectural references provided by the client shaped the language of the new design and its spatial approach. Instead of repeating this heritage, CO Mimarlık interpreted it in a contemporary way, so the villa connects to a historical story while remaining suited to today's way of life; this balance is the project's most distinctive quality. The images the client found in their own research and brought to us saying "this is my dream house" became a reference point at every stage of the design. As a team, rather than copying these references one to one, we reinterpreted them through contemporary architecture.

Timeless Materials and Modern Details

Timeless materials and modern details create a relationship between the project's past and present, producing an identity that draws on historical references while responding to contemporary living. We made every material choice with both durability and aesthetic continuity in mind, a balance that became one of the design's defining elements. We kept the same consistency in the interior planning, and the window proportions and façade materials were chosen to support this unity. Natural stone and timber textures also strike a balance with the villa's rural surroundings. You can explore similar work in our architecture projects category.

At CO Mimarlık, we drew inspiration from this historical reference in Cameroon and developed an original villa design that brings contemporary living together with architectural heritage. The Farmhouse brings a deep-rooted story and today's expectations of comfort together under one roof, a tangible example of past and present meeting in the same space. The project is currently in the design phase; once built, the villa will become a home where the family adds its own story to this architectural heritage.
